Thanks Mark, I think most people will want more than one but there’s always the upgrades to Wordpress and new plugins are coming out all the time. I know how scary looking at the cpanel can be if you’ve never done it before. If you want, I’ll let you know the site when I get done with it. Thanks everyone else for your input.

While both you and I were not there, I can agree that if they did say "it will not work without this" then that is a bad sales tactic. Typically though, they would recommend this kind of service, especially if the person buying the computer knows nothing about computers. Sure, to you and I doing that kind of inital PC setup and program installation is cake. To a laymen, that might be a miserable task.

I can also understand why they might not want to return the service. After all, once the service is complete, it really cannot be "returned" but if your dad went in there immediately, they should've been able to box it up and give it back to him. At the very least, they didn't necessarily have to finish the service.

Anyway, I'd recommend your dad talk to a manager and explain the business tactics they used. There is no reason they should've said that the computer would not work without the service. Even if they did not say that exactly, there is no reason your dad should've taken what they meant to mean that.

In short, talk to a manager, get your money back. Worse case scenario, contact the credit card and accuse them of fraudulent charges and not refunding the money.
